On July 4, 2026, Nolan Wells traveled to Horn Island, Mississippi. He was last seen at approximately 3:30 that afternoon. Two days later, on July 6, he was found deceased on the island.
Reports that Nolan sustained blunt-force injuries raised serious questions. The Jackson County District Attorney's Office investigated, and a grand jury determined his death resulted from drowning — with no further local investigation to follow.
But Horn Island is federally managed land, part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. A petition started by Legally Shay is calling on the FBI to independently review the evidence: the events leading up to his disappearance, the reported injuries, witness information, forensic evidence, and the findings to date.
This petition isn't asking anyone to prejudge what happened. It's asking for answers, transparency, and an independent review.
Nolan deserves a complete and thorough investigation. His loved ones deserve answers.
