Hip Hop Fans Slam Max B After Big Daddy Kane Comments on Gillie & Wallo Podcast

 Big Daddy Kane

Recent hip hop controversy erupted after rapper Max B appeared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267. During the interview, Max B made comments questioning the legacy and influence of legendary MC Big Daddy Kane, which immediately sparked backlash throughout the hip hop community.

According to clips circulating online, Max B suggested that he believed his influence on modern rap culture was greater than Kane’s, while also criticizing aspects of Kane’s image and career choices from the late 1980s and early 1990s. One of the comments that upset fans the most was Max B saying Kane “let him down,” referencing Kane’s older photoshoots and presentation style.

The reaction online was overwhelmingly negative. Many hip hop fans, bloggers, and artists viewed the comments as disrespectful toward one of rap’s foundational pioneers. Social media users pointed out that Big Daddy Kane helped shape lyricism, stage performance, flow patterns, fashion, and charisma for generations of rappers that followed. Others argued that even if Max B was discussing influence, comparing himself to Kane in a dismissive way crossed a line culturally.

A large portion of the backlash centered on hip hop’s long-standing code of respecting elders and pioneers. Fans defended Kane’s status by highlighting his impact on artists like Jay-Z, Nas, and countless MCs who borrowed from his cadence, confidence, and live performance style. Many commenters felt Max B confused “modern influence” with “historical importance,” while others accused him of chasing viral controversy.

Some fans did defend Max B partially, arguing that he was speaking from a generational perspective and emphasizing his melodic influence on newer artists and the wave that later influenced artists like French Montana and parts of modern melodic rap. Still, the dominant response online leaned heavily toward protecting Big Daddy Kane’s legacy and criticizing Max B for what many called an unnecessary and disrespectful take.
